Tuesday June fourteenth. It is day 4 in Phuket, Thailand.
And daily I am learning to love it more and more here.
Several things that I learned in the past few days: Humidity is not bad once you learn to accept wearing perpetually damp clothing. Thai food can make your insides blaze with heat that almost matches the fire of the Holy Spirit. Roundabouts go in a clockwise direction (making crossing the streets an adventure worth a blog on its own). And the amount of 7-Elevens here are only paralleled by the amount of Vespas and motorized bikes in the streets.
Exploring has been a favorite pastime, from familiarizing ourselves with our favorite ice cream shops and omelette restaurants to taking walks/runs around the dam surrounded by an incredible jungle, and in turn finding waterfalls that even the locals knew nothing about.
Beyond that, the fellowship and community is an encouragemnet and a comfort. The faith in the Lord's promises of redemption are powerful. The movement of the Spirit is visible.
This week we prepare for our ministry with the Thai women. And we know that As we live in God, our love grows more perfect. “So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear" 1 John 4: 17 & 18
And we say Yes God! Your love drives out all fear and we now have confidence in your strength and boast in our own weaknesses.
