My team is extremely attracted to the rain. Here in Thailand, although it is opposite of the rainy season, it has rained everyday! GOD YOUR CRAZY! We all have our own reasons for loving it, for some of us its a reminder of faithfulness, for some its a sign of Gods power, some of us just really love it, and for me its a clensing refreshing thing. Everytime in my life when i have been broken, hurt, and feeling dirty– God has sent a gentle or torrential down pour my way for me to dance in! I remember one specific time in my life when i was the most hurt i have ever been. I was left just sitting in a parking lot and God started POURING. At first i was upset saying, "great! Ok God you break me, leave me here alone, then you rain on me. How am i to know that you love me or want me or can even make me new?"
Then He asked me to dance with Him. With tears in my eyes and rolling down my cheeks the same as the rain drops, i rose from the ground and began to slow dance with Jesus. Second after second more and more joy crept in my heart, and the slow dance picked up until we were running and spinning, leaping and shouting, laughing and crying. it was beautiful and my soul was made new.
I couldnt help of think of this moment in my life as we walked onto Bangla Road in the rain. At first it was a small sprinkle, barely noticeable… Then it grew into buckets of water in each drop. As it poured the streets cleared and the masses of people stood under onings on the sides of the entire road, almost like a parade! My team couldnt even hold back our joy and excitement when we saw the empty street.
We took off! We danced with eachother surrounded by Jesus all the way down the street! We jumped, we leapt, we sang praise, we were spinning all around as God held our hands. It was too funny to see hundreds of people watching us and videoing us. We got to bring so much joy to the streets that night because of God! He shined through us greatly and it was more than beautiful. More than silly. More than renewing and refreshing. It was so much more than just dancing in the rain. It was our creator embracing each of us gently and lovingly and shining through us to embrace everyone on Bangla Road.
