Picture this. Music pounding. Lights flashing. Getting bumped on every side. The smell of sweat and alcohol. This is Bangla. Everywhere you look you are bombarded by horrific and heart breaking sights. Even though are ministry isn’t mainly on Bangla Road we still pray and pass through it when we walk to our street. On our street it feels as if they are trying to be more discreet about what is going on but on Bangla everything is out in the open. No one tries to hide anything. The girls stand there and it feels like they are crying out. They don’t know who or what they want help from but they just want some to help them. Some try to act as if they like what they do, but every human being has a desire to be loved and respected. We all wish to some day have someone sweep us off our feet. A knight in shining armor. Prostitution is all they know. Maybe it has gone on in their families for generations. All I know is that Someone needs to stop it. We need to believe that we have been sent here to go into battle for God. That God is using us to make a change is this dark place. I don’t know how He can use someone as inexperienced and inadequate as me but I know that I will try my hardest to let him use me.

Pray for these women. Pray that they will realize their worth. That they will realize that love is real and that God can offer it to them with no strings attached. Unconditional, unrestricted, unlimited love. Pray that the men will fill the void in their souls and no longer feel the need to seek out these girls. Pray that the bars will be torn down. That no bar will be left standing. Pray for Phuket. Pray for a miracle.

Love you all
Shelley
