It rained both physically and in the Holy Spirit. Seriously I cannot believe how AMAZING last night was down on Bangla Road. I just have to voice God’s power and His goodness.
As I declared that the Holy Spirit would rain down on Bangla Road as it did the night of that big storm, I also prayed for physical rain to pour down, clearing the streets. A lot of us have been praying for this, and last night it happened! Let me say that again. GOD ANSWERED US BIG TIME! I don’t even remember how it all came to be. It was the Spirit of the Lord working in us and through us.
We came out of our first bar as it started, the rain grew stronger and stronger as we headed towards Bangla Road. We got to the edge of the sheltered area where we were standing and Kirsten said, “I think God wants us to dance down the street in the rain.” We all smiled. We knew it was true.
By this time there was a downpour, we stepped out into the rain, and allowed the Spirit to take over at the same time. We all sang, “LET IT RAIN, LET IT RAIN! OPEN THE FLOODGATES OF HEAVEN, LET IT RAIN” at the top of our lungs. We walked boldly down the street singing to the all-powerful King that we have the honor of serving. We were all filled with unspeakable joy, glancing at each other as we laughed, knowing that we were walking in victory! You could say that we made a scene, but we couldn’t help it. Joy flowed through our veins like oxygen. I have never felt so free in my life. The hustle and bustle of chaos was gone. The street was empty. All the people that usually fill Bangla Road were standing on the side of the street taking shelter from the rain while we were soaked. They laughed and smiled at us as we praised the Lord. Some were even video taping us! When they watch their videos, I hope that they see there weren’t just four of us, but five walking down the street together. Jesus was walking with us. For the first time I saw the street pure, cleansed by the holy rain that Jesus poured out. This is just a glimpse of God’s love and His beauty and words do not do it justice.
The Holy Spirit’s guidance took us all around Bangla Road. Praying for people, speaking truth and showing love. I love that God used our gifts all together in unity, but for such different purposes, Sarah’s obedience, Amy’s joy, Kirsten’s boldness and my love, all for Him! I am beyond proud of my group and the way that we abandoned ourselves to let God work. We did a lot of seemingly random things, but I know they are not random to Him, and I rejoice in the fact that He uses them in ways that are so much bigger than just us. We are seeing fruit.
“I will give you treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.” Isaiah 45:3
All the groups that went out last night had an awesome night! If its possible, I was filled with even more joy as I listened to all that God did through them last night. Our leader Katie told us that while she was interceding she got a vision of a lions tail ready to pounce (the lion being God). The back of the lion represents God’s power and that was so evident to all of us who were on the streets. There is a rumble, and God is not finished. This is only the beginning of how He will use us these next four weeks. He is bringing us treasures of darkness so that His name may be proclaimed. HE REIGNS!
