Jesus only.

This Thursday while Gloriel, Allison and I were home interceding for our teammates out on Bangla, I randomly flipped open my bible. It opened to Mark 9, the transfiguration. Where some of the disciples saw Jesus transform into what is described as ‘dazzling white’ clothes with Moses and Elijah standing with Him. The disciples were speechless when they heard the voice of God saying, “This is my beloved son; listen to him.” And looking up they saw no one but Jesus only. (vs. 1-8)

My eyes were drawn to the fact that I had at some point underlined the words Jesus only.

I don’t remember when I read that or what made me think to underline just those two words. But as I began to think about what those words meant, I know that God showed me that Thursday night for a reason.

This week, 2 big questions on all of our minds are. “What do we want the rest of this trip to look like?” and “what do we want God to do in us before we leave?”

As I thought about these questions, I realized the answer was the underlined words: Jesus only.

This is what I want to be true in me when I leave Thailand:

  • I don’t rely on my own strength; I rely on the strength of Jesus only.
  • I don’t listen to what the world says about me because I find my worth in Jesus only.
  • My beauty is not determined by the world, my beauty is determined by Jesus only.
  • I don’t live my life to please myself; I live my life to please Jesus only.
  • My life is not a reflection of the things I say or do, my life is a reflection of Jesus only.
  • My prayers are not words from my own mouth; they’re from the mouth of Jesus only.
  • I don’t love with my own heart; I love with the heart of Jesus only.
  • I don’t see with my own eyes, I see with the eyes of Jesus only.
  • I don’t do anything or go anywhere for my own glory, I do ALL for the glory of Jesus ONLY.
