Jesus > Satan’s Attacks

My first night at the bars was honestly one of the worst nights of my life and also one of the best nights of my life.  I felt so attacked by Satan.  I won’t go into lengthy details, but basically, he took hold of a past I have been healed of and used it against me.  I was so unbelievably angry that he had the nerve to place a trap for me.  Thinking back now, I realize what a coward Satan was.  He attacked me with something I have already learned how to combat.  Is that really the best he could do?  Seriously?  Sure, I stumbled and spent...

Coke Floats and the Black Eyed Peas

It's Monday afternoon and we just got back from our first exposure and prayer walk on Bangla Road. Waking up this morning a new wave of the fear that I have been struggling with hit again. We have been somewhat sitting stagnant in this waiting process for the past few days…don’t get me wrong these have been an amazing few days after the dragging chaos of three days of travel but the reality of what we are walking into has been on the distant horizon until today.  ...

Beloved

This summer, I am serving an amazing God with an amazing group of women. These women have encouraged me, given me wisdom, but most importantly they have CHALLENGED me. I have spent many months preparing for my ministry to these women on Bangla, but starting in training camp, God broke me down, using my team mates. Each night as we would pray or just share what was on our hearts, I heard so many of my team mates say that their hearts broke just as much for the men on Bangla Road. “Love of my life, look deep in my eyes. There you will find what you need. Give me your life, the lust and...

Travels and Hidden Blessings

I had been meditating on this Word before I came to Thailand and training camp.  I am also continuing to dwell in it now as I am in this new place with new family and new circumstances.   “Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” Proverbs 31:25&26               What a wild past 4 days! I do not believe I have ever felt so tired, uncomfortable, or gone so long...

Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?

“As I was caught under a wave, I would get tossed in the air for a brief second. Gasping for air, I would reach out my hand and desperately call for help at the person on the shore. Yet each time was a different person that meant very dearly to me, and they would solemnly stand there watching.” Confused? So was I, when I was woken up at exactly 2:35AM, April 11th from having a very confusing nightmare. Startled by how uneasy I felt from my drowning encounter, I decided to write down my dream and fall back asleep knowing I had a long day ahead of me. Little did I know that It...

Broadway For The Broken Hearted

“People think we are dumb. They think we do not see or hear what is happening around us. We are not dumb. We see the things, but can only watch. We hear the things, but we do not speak. But we always know…” While standing in the Andaman Sea, I tried to soak in every wave and ounce of sun to remember the moment. Holding hands with my Thai friend Ruby, I tried to hold back my gasp listening to her genuine, honest words about being a bar girl. It was almost a gut check. Once the neon lights come on and the DJ's take their place, Bang La road turns into a broadway play...
