Invisible, Yet Seen

Time is flying fast. There is about a week left of ministry here in Phuket and then we will be in Bangkok for about a week doing final debrief things. 2 weeks left. And I am no closer to figuring out what's next for me after leading this trip. After this trip it is just blank- a big white canvas with nothing on it. In a way it is quite exciting because anything can be possible, but at the same time it somewhat scares me to not have a clue where God is taking me next- that anything indeed is possible. Sometimes it just feels that I am completely lost even...

Intentional Lives

It's funny how we go through life not listening to the whispers of God but when He speaks through big things like natural disasters….we all perk up and start paying attention.  Why do we do this as humans? We stumble through life not knowing where to go….passing by burning bushes….but then a natural disaster happens……and we think oh now is the time. One thing I have learned from all of this is that even though the Burmese people as of right now are dying because wells are busted….they were dying before the Earthquake, spiritually, everyday they...

And amidst the chaos, God whispered.

I remember Kristina and our ministry contacts telling us, “If you get a connection with a child this week, don’t avoid it. Embrace it. Pour into that child. Give that child all of your love. Put it all out there.” Well, Thursday started out much similar to the rest.  We spent the morning and some of the afternoon with the kids. Rocking out, laughing uncontrollably and just watching them grow comfortable around us. After dinner, Kristina and I were in the kitchen when she heard a familiar sound from the gate and she rushed to it with an excited “Abbaba!”...

It’s His LOVE That Changes Us.

March 16, 2011      Exactly two months since the start of this epic journey, I can honestly say that I am NOT the woman that I was whenever I flew in to Atlanta for training camp. God has completely transformed me inside and out. I know who I am now. I am the daughter of a King, I am beautiful, I am worthy, I am holy, I am a saint, God chose ME to be part of His army.      Whenever I was baptized 3 years ago, it was out of obligation and out of fear that if I wasn’t baptized, that I wouldn’t make it into heaven. Basically, it was for...

It Starts With Goodbye

Well, tomorrow we are leaving for our mid-point debrief… It’s a bittersweet feeling. I am so very sad to leave this ministry but I am so incredibly thankful for all that God has done here and all that He will continue to do after we leave.           In Thailand, they have these paper balloons that you can light a fire under (sort of like a mini hot air balloon) and send it off into the night sky for “good luck”. Thursday, being our  last night out at the bars, we decided to write on the balloon...

One last Phuket Adventure

We had simple instructions from our leaders, Natalie and Andrea, to be in our room and ready to leave at 12:45 this afternoon. We were all a little peaved about their secrecy but played along in order to humor them. We were then delivered a four notes with instructions that only Mary was allowed to read. The first one said to get to Phuket Town (about 20 minute bus ride) and to open our next “clue” upon arrival. Well, this came with some rules. One being I had to wear a blindfold the entire way. Gabby couldn’t speak....
