husband’s daycare.

Monday morning, we woke up to go to ministry training. The plan was to eat lunch, take a bus out to Patong and walk down Bangla Road once with an explanation of what was what and then to walk back in prayer asking God what to do about it. During the day, Bangla Road is full of shops and tourists including a large handful of beautiful Australians, elderly men, bar girls and shop owners, and not to mention families with young children. The first sign we see says “HUSBAND’S DAY CARE. WANT A NIGHT TO YOURSELF? DROP YOUR HUSBAND OFF HERE, AND WE’LL TAKE CARE OF HIM. ALL YOU...

This One’s for the Boys

Monday- We prayer walked Bangla Road today. I had been expecting my heart to break for the women on the road, or maybe the children… but it was the men. The very first thing I saw when we arrived was a sign advertising “Husband Daycare.”  “Want a day of shopping?  Need some time away?  Just drop your husband off and we’ll entertain him- You just have to pay for his drinks.”  What isn’t on the sign are the poles decorating the bars or the women available to buy for the evening.  I almost threw up. All along the road were advertisements...

Role Confusion

over the past several days of training camp the Lord has been moving so powerfully everyone and everything. from His faithfulness in confirming the calling of His people to His goodness in providing support funds to His unfailing love and trueness to His promises; the Lord is HERE!   these last several days of leader training and training camp i have felt a little role confusion.  this time last year i was at training camp as a student meeting my team an leaders and preparing to leave for uganda.  now i am the one meeting my students and being privy to inside information. ...

And so it begins…

It’s been all but a little over a day that we’ve spent in Phuket, but I can honestly say that I am already liking it here. The SHE house has been great so far, and from the vibes I’ve been getting from the two other teams that are here, I know I’m in for one heck of a summer. We start ministry on Monday, and though I have a lot of fears, I’m ready to jump in and see all that God has for me. So far we’ve spent today by going down to the little vendor right up our street who sells some AMAZING iced coffees, smoothies, and teas, and going to the mall where we...

Flood of reality

So today has been quite the adventure and rather overwhelming. It started off with 8 of us catching a bus for a ride to the mall, splitting into smaller groups and ended up with 3 of us getting completely lost. In order to find our way back to where we were stayng in Kathu we started asking Thai people where to catch the bus and one after another kept saying "You have to go down Bangla. Go down Bangla." (This is the street of bars our main ministry will be on). So after attempting to find our team learder and exploring other options the 3 of us decided to brave it, prayed and started...

We’re all a little crazy

I can see why people think we are a little crazy for what we are doing. Right now I couldn’t even tell you what day and time it is. I can’t even narrow it down to AM or PM. I couldn’t add up how many hours I’ve slept, or even which country I slept them in. I’m not really sure if I’ve had three meals a day or if I’m drinking enough water. International travel is a whole new thing and it’s helped me piece together why people may think we are crazy. I’ve given up a bed, with known hours of sleep. I’ve given up my stepdads chicken and vegetable...
