Last night when I was on Bangla Road here in Phuket, Thailand, God took me on a date. Yes, the God of the universe, who created everything- took me on a date.
My group as out last night doing bar ministry and each night I pray that it will look different than what we expect- risky, yes I know! So as soon as we step foot on Bangla Road, a guy from Dubai comes up and asks us what we are doing here (I am going to go out on a limb here and say that he totally saw God in us and knew right away that we were not here for the same reasons he was J ). Talked with him for a while and got to share with him that we were here to love on these girls and give them another option of what else they could be doing. After trying to convince us to go have a drink with him, he finally gives up and goes on his way. After going to a bar to interecede and then to say hi to some of the girls we have met in another bar, we head down to the beach at the end of Bangla Road to refocus on God's heart before going back down Bangla road.
We start to just worship God sitting on the sand, looking at the ocean and the beautiful moon in the sky. We just stay right there on the beach, worshipping and praying. All I can tell you is that God was there with us that night, right by our side. I could feel His presence and His love. And then the dog came. (for those of you who don't know me, I love animals and will talk to them like they are people J ) There was a dog (who was pretty fat and was almost like a golden retriever) a little ways away from us just sitting there looking at the water (weird, I know). I said to my girls how I wished the dog would come over to me and no joke- less than a minute later this dog comes over, passes three other people and plops down right next to me! Yes, my Daddy, gave me a dog last night- even if it was only for 20 minutes J We just stayed on the beach and worshipped God and just spent time with Him.
Normally we are the ones pouring out God's love on Bangla Road and last night God simply wanted to pour out more of His love on us. All I can say is that I have never felt as much peace as I did last night on Bangla Road or so full of joy!
