“Funny how when you plan on blessing someone it turns out that we were the ones being blessed!”- Quote as Saraw, Sabrina and I walked away from a great lunch date with Ale.
On Wednesday I got the chance to go with two of my teammates, Saraw and Sabrina, to have lunch with Ale, one of the girls we have made friends with at the bar. We met her on Bangla road and after a game of charades we finally some what understood what the other was trying to say. She was going to take us to get good Thai food. As we followed Ale down the road to a street vender of her choice we had shop owners beckoning us into their stores. They would tell we are beautiful or ask us where we are from. Trying to be nice we would either say “no thank you” in Thai or say we were from America and keep walking. She was quick to correct us. She said you tell them you are from Bangkok. We then had to repeat Bangkok a couple times to make sure we had it down. When we asked where she would smile and say, “America!” Ale was already taking care of us!
After she ordered our food, got us fruit, a mat and four water bottles we sat on the beach for our picnic. We took out pictures of our family and friends to show her and she asked questions and pointed us out in each picture. She was so interested in our lives. We talked about her family as well. She has two little girls, they are named Bim who is twelve and Bo who is seven. We laughed and danced. It was as if we had been friends forever. Everything was fun and easy!
Her two roommates, Wi, Ying and Ying’s daughter Monica came to visit us. We got a chance talk with them. I danced with Monica to no music and pushed trucks through the sand. I love that children are the same from country to country. You don’t have to know their language they just want to laugh and play.
All together that day was such a blessing and encouragement! Ale asked us if we would come over sometime so her and her roommate could cook for us. She trusts us and wants to be friends! Thank you God!!
Please keep Ale in your prayers. That God will continue to open doors for conversation that will lead to Him. That money will not be what holds Ale in the bars. That God will shine through us and she will see Jesus in us.
