Kirstin Stewart Preaching the Gospel… Say What?

“So you’re back from the dead and instigating the masses?” If you haven’t gone to see Snow White and the Huntsman yet, you’re missing out on some awesome Jesus moments.  Basically, it’s a grown-up twist on the classic fairytale, with true love and beauty conquering over evil.  No surprises there. But sitting in the theatre Jesus smacked me right in the face with the reality of what I was seeing on screen.  We were on our first date with a beautiful new friend from the bars and I realized: this battle is real. See, the whole story is a...

A Snowfall Kind of Love

So it’s been raining here nonstop- pretty much every day.  And the funny thing is, we’ve been praying for it.  We’ve been singing “Let it Rain” all over Bangla.  We desperately wanted a break from the heat and a visible representation of the purifying redemption of Jesus.  Which is awesome.  But now we feel like we’re drowning. So last night in intercession while that song was playing again, I started joking with Jesus (we do that sometimes) about how we really only want figurative rain.  And then He said to me: “It...

I am Still the Shepherd

We are officially in the stretch of our last two weeks which brings me to a whole range of different emotions. First off I feel incredibly anxious to go home. The time is growing shorter here and I am like okay, time to pack up and go. Truly feeling that sense of “Alberta Bound;” needing me some Canadian. But in addition to this I am feeling the sadness that will come in leaving too. I don’t want to leave the fresh tropical fruit (mango, guava mmm), my beautiful sisters/teammates, or the sun (which has been hiding behind the rain for a while now, sad face). Lastly, I have...

My first date in Thailand

Several weeks ago my bar ministry team went on our first date with a bar girl. It was wonderful. By some miracle (and that miracle's name is Jesus), we found the place we were supposed to meet her. Seriously, it was a miracle because I'm still not quite sure how it happened. Once we arrived, we waited for a while and I prayed (really prayed, not just a figure of speech) that she would come.  Several of our team members had had trouble with dates not showing up. Once about fifteen minutes passed by, I called her. She answered and said that she was on a moto taxi (a moto is...

Love: No Translation Required

This is from last week- I've been trying to process everything, so I'm sorry it's been delayed! I’ve tried to type this out like 14 times and I’m not sure how to contain the awesomeness without screaming, so I’m gonna use bullet points and lots of exclamation points!!!! Crazy freaking awesome things happened on Bangla tonight! While dropping off English flyers to some of our friends I ran into my precious street vendor friend.  We have this routine where I ask her how she is, she misunderstands and tells me that she’s 67, I tell her that...

I Will Follow

As I headed into this summer, I was secretly hoping that God would reveal answers about my future to me. Well maybe not so secretly, most of my close friends can tell you that I would say, “My time in Thailand is going to hold a lot of answers.” See I’m a planner, and I graduate in December. I have no idea what is next after that, because God hasn’t exactly let me in on that. Although there aren’t any specifics of what is next, He has shown me what He desires for me. He...
