Time to dive in

Although there was some cool stuff to see in Bangkok, I thought Asia and I might be doomed if that's what the rest of it looked like. I'm not a fan of big cities and the smells, the noise, all the people, the smog, etc didn't sit so well. Good thing Bangkok wasn't indicative of all of Thailand and Phuket offered the country full redemption. From the moment we stepped off our double decker tour bus (throw back to the spice world bus anyone? As close as I may ever get to my life dream of traveling with baby, ginger, scary, sporty and posh) it was a...

Top 10 Things to Bring With You to Phuket

Top 10 Things to Bring With You to Phuket, Thailand:  1. A personal shade-boy. It's real hot here. You're going to want to hire your neighbor boy to come with you to Thailand to hold a big palm leaf over your head. You're still going to be hot, but at least you'll be in the shade. Plus, you'll be doing your neighbor boy a favor. Not only does he not have to set up the redundant lemonade stand to make some extra cash in the summer, but he'll also have the pleasure of seeing the world. Win-win situation.  2. Skirts/dresses. If you're a man, you're...

Surrender

9 June 2011  Bangkok, Thailand  (It's a bit past the 9th of June, but it seems like a shame to let a good blog go to waste, so I'm going to post it anyway! 🙂  Sometimes the blatantly obvious truth will stare us directly in the face for so long that when it finally snaps into the sharpest of focuses in that one incredible moment of clarity, it's as shocking as, say, suddenly realizing that you live on a speck as small as the eyeball of the common flea.  The truth that I am referencing here is that God loves me so much that He has a perfect and brilliant...

Partner in Prayer

We have arrived in Phuket! Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers, you'd be happy to know that we are all safe with possession of all of our bags:) It has definitely been an intense couple of days- but not in the way i expected. I would have thought that the spiritually difficulty in this trip would come from meeting girls that had not heard of Jesus's love for them…that comprehended their self-worth based on what society has told them. More and more, I realize how easy it is to determine self-worth by earthly standards. My team of 3 (me, Audrey, and Kelly Harry, who...

God is Truth, Truth Brings Freedom

Living with scores of other people, always surrounded by noise and bodies, but one in the Spirit of Christ – brought together by our Love of our Savior and Redeemer.  This is my life right now, and as crazy as it can be, it is a beautiful thing to behold. Lately, God has been impressing on my heart the idea of Truth, absolute truth.  And that is found only in communion with Christ and in the Word of God, the Sword of the Spirit.  But how little do I take hold of this magnificent gift?   How often are we told to hide away God's Word in our heart and nod our...

We Made It!!!

Last night Team Thailand boarded a bus for 12 hours from Bangkok to Phuket.  We arrived this morning about 7:30am.  We made it to the SHE house and will be getting acquainted with the area for the next few days.  So, for the next three days we will not be using electronics.  Just wanted to let everyone know that we arrived and everyone is well.  Thank you for all the prayers and love. Katie
