The Moments In Between “Ministry”

So often I'm learning that I separate in my mind life and ministry. I wish honestly that I was the only one that struggles with this but I'm guessing that many of you are in this boat with me. Its almost as if in order to encourage someone, tell them about Jesus or pray for them we have to have a big sign flashing "ministry moment". Then after its over we almost pat ourselves on the back and say well done now you can get back to normal life and categorize it as a moment of doing ministry. In reality, everything we do should be ministry. People are around us everyday...

Second Chances

The more time I'm here, the more I am amazed at the God we serve. Monday night was once again one of our prayer nights. My partner and I walk the streets and the beach while lifting up prayers for the ones doing bar ministry….. that they would have boldness, love, and compassion for the men and women they come across. I found myself sitting in the sand worshipping and praying very intently when all of a sudden a Western looking man and Thai girl sat down maybe six steps away from me. This has become a common sight that I have almost accepted as the norm down here, but I found...

Singing in Bars

Thursday night will be one that I will never forget. Everything started out like it normally does when we go out for bar ministry…we get ready, we pile into the back of a truck, get driven to Patong, and then pile out onto the streets and make our game plan. But that night was different. We were so excited and pumped because some of our own were chosen to perform in a local bar. It was as if we had received concert tickets to a sold out band. Our pace walking down the street was faster, we wanted to just get there and hear the music. So here it was…us crowding into this tiny...

Bold Love

“Did you know that a caterpillar has 228 separate and distinct muscles in its head? The average elm tree has approximately 6 million leaves on it. And your heart generates enough pressure as it pumps blood throughout your body that it could squirt blood up to 30 feet. There are over 3,000 different species of trees within one square mile in the Amazon jungle. There are over 100 different kinds of bananas. Have you ever thought about the way that plants defy gravity by drawing water upward from the ground into their stems and veins? Or did you know that spiders produce three kinds of...

Marvelous Beauty

Today (Sunday) was our day off. Like so many of our other days off, we decided to go to the beach. As I was sitting in my chair looking out at the beautiful, sparkling ocean, I realized how numb I've become to looking at God's creation and being amazed by it. It is so crazy to think about, God created it all. He made the rocks, the mountains, the water, the sand, everything. All of the beautiful things that we are able to see everyday, God created them. He made them so we should enjoy them as much as we can. When was the last time that you just sat and marveled at God's...
