Walking down a street in downtown Bangkok into an open market I didn't know what I would encounter.
Little did I know that what I would find would change everything.
As I walked up and down the rows of delicious smelling but strange looking food, I came across an old woman making little omelets. Since I was starving and didn't know what anything else was, I got one of these omelets.
Let me just tell you. Thai people know what they are doing when it comes to eggs.
This omelet may or may not be the single best thing I have ever put in my mouth. I'm not kidding. THE BEST THING. It was so good. I don't even know how to describe it. It left me speechless. Awe inspired.
But what has left me more awe inspired than the most amazing omelet ever, is the most amazing God ever. I am almost as far away from home as I could possibly be. Everything is different. There is an 11 hour time difference, a language that is nearly impossible to comprehend, heat that is even MORE impossible to comprehend and a culture that is totally and completely foreign to me. But my God doesn't change. He is the same God here in Thailand as He is when I am at home in Raleigh or at school in Boone. His love pursues me everywhere I go.
And I am so blessed to have gotten this opportunity to pursue his children on the other side of the world with that same love. I am staying at the SHE ministry house with 71 other people, and it has been a little crazy, but amazing. The house is a center where women can come to learn hotel management skills, English and jewelry making so that they don't have to sell themselves to make money.
I am so happy to be here, and I am beyond excited to see what God has in store for the summer!
"Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast." – Psalm 139:7-10
