Thanksgiving Tabel Tradition

Every year my family and I sit around the table and say one thing we are thankful for. The usual answer is family because we are all together on this wonderful day feasting together. On the other hand when your family is gone and it's not thanksgiving day are you still thankful for them? While being here in Chiang Mai, we are away from our families but we are also away from things I never thought I would miss. Things such as cheese, peanut butter, our beds, warm showers, baths, toast, and a whole list of things I could keep listing off. Last night at dinner we said things we were thankful for and the answers were very interesting and odd. But it's true we really are greatful for toilet paper and freedom in America. I think a lot of times we tend to take advantage of the things we have and take them for granted. We don't realize what life would be without these simple things. It may sound dumb to people that we are thankful for small things, but if you really think about it people all around the world wish they had what we had. Why is it we become so selfish and spoiled that we no longer are thankful for what we have and continue to be greedy and crave more and more and more. Stop! Stop chasing after what we already have. " brooke you're already rich in my kingdom" what?? Me rich?? Ya me! Guys here's great news I'm rich in Christ's kingdom. I need to put myself in check and be thankful for the things such as a roof over my head and a meal everyday to nourish my body. It's time I start saying thanks to God for all He's giving me. Maybe next thanksgiving Ill start a new tradition and say things I've taken for granted and say thank you for those things. Thank you God for the freedom you have given me.
