rolling in the deep

Sitting in a bar called Green Devil, me and two team mates are trying our hardest to hear our own thoughts and just pray silently because not one bar girl is talking to us-but the music is raging. It is always the loudest in this bar. Add the visual distractions and it feels like a lost cause. We keep making eye contact that is screaming "how am I supposed to pray in here?!" It was a battle to keep our minds on Christ for an extended period of time but as soon as I had been praying for at least 30 seconds straight, I heard God telling me to keep standing. It was a weird thing to...

finally i surrender

Here's something amazingly outlandish. God didn't send us here just for the girls in the bars. He did send us here for them but he sent us here for so much more. If we were to have the attitude that we could only talk to Thai women who work in the bars we would be limiting what God has in store. So every night we go out, we start with prayer asking God for direction and praising him. In the beginning of our time here, our idea of success was not lined up with God's view of success. We thought that if we didn't talk to a Thai girl working in the bar that we were...

So the whole prophecy thing is real?! God is good and faithful ladies and gentlemen

Oh my goodness guys, I am bursting with joy right now. We just got back from a night on Bangla Road and do I have news for you. What news? GOD IS FAITHFUL! One week ago (last Tuesday actually), God gave me such a vivid image. My mind felt numb, which was probably a good thing because my brain is always running. My stomach felt weird. I felt light and heavy. AND GOD TOLD ME some very specific things. God gave me a name, for privacy sake, lets say it was Arethia. Now, please understand, most of the girls names here are one syllable names…very simple names at that. So the four...

pick your fruit

34 Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work. 35 You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest. 36 The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike! 37 You know the saying, ‘One plants and another harvests.’ And it’s true. 38 I sent...

Everyone Needs Compassion, The Kindness of a Savior, The HOPE of Nations

Goodness gracious, I have so much to say and I cannot wait to tell you about my life. Even though I posted only a few days ago, so much has happened here at SHE! I want to give a shout out to all the stinking amazing friends and family that I have! You guys have been incredible prayer warriors, I am so thankful! God really used my time in the Hospital to show me how much I am loved! It is so hard to express, but I cry on a daily basis because of the amazing love that God has shown me, both through my teammates and all my friends and family. He is so good! Yesterday I was back to my baking...

She Walked Out.

Last week my teammate Kelly, our YWAM friend Claudia, and myself went on a lunch date with two people we’ve built a relationship with on Bangla Road. They are a couple in their early twenties who work on two of the streets. He is a bar tender in a tiny bar on Soi Crocodile, and she is a bar girl at one of the bars on Soi Easy. They came to tour SHE and see what they had to offer, then the five of us went to eat at a place down the road where Kelly and Claudia ate chicken so spicy they compared it to eating a bowl of the sun. The whole afternoon was just really fun, and once they left...
