by her wounds I am healed…

Wednesday June 22nd. Our team of four sat on the rickety bus going 1 mph up a hill that was so steep I had to pray we made it up.  We were headed from Katau to Patong for our weekly prayer walk down Bangla Road to bathe the bars in prayer during the day before going out at night.  I was people watching (my secret addiction), humming to myself, sweating (as usual), and began to pray.  Suddenly, the Lord gave me a distinct vision as I closed my eyes of a gigantic Elephant Head. I told my team about it, but I put it to the back of my mind.  He would reveal himself to me in...

Claiming Joy

Honestly, its hard walking onto Bangla Rd, seeing the perversity on that street and claiming joy for your soul.  And for me, its been a personally long struggle of wondering where my joy in life went.  Well, I've found it – and its been where I knew it was the whole time – in the promises and arms of Jesus.   Last week, we sat before heading out to the bars and I just felt uneasy so we sat and prayed for a while and then decided to head out to a road we hadn't been on before.  As we walked there (about 10 minutes), my team leader, Kirsten, decided to...

Sun Halo

Last Wednesday it was our team's turn to prayer walk. I felt more exhausted and attacked than I have this entire trip.  Despair came over me, so I prayed out of a spirit of desperation for the Lord to work.  I wanted to pray BIG prayers, but I didn't even have the strength.  I longed to pray with power, yet I felt powerless.  It was the work of the enemy.  I had to keep reminding myself that God would take all that I could offer in those two hours–walking step by step and uttering whispered, feeble prayers–to move mountains. "For when I am...

The True Tale of 3 Roses

I was finishing off my coke and interceding for the conversation that was flowing between my teammates and the bargirls when she came up to me… an older Thai woman selling beautiful long stemmed red roses bundled into groups of three. “Would you like to buy some roses?” she asked hopefully. “No, thank you” I replied with a smile. She began to walk away, moving on to offer her flowers to a group of rowdy European men. “Wait,” I yelled after her, “I’ll buy some!” Before, I knew what I was doing I was holding a bouquet of roses...

Let There Be Light

Changes are beginning on Bangla Road. We're starting to see rays of light seep into the place that is engulfed in darkness. We noticed the changes as we walked through the streets and people recognized us and knew us because of Christ in us. Tourists asked us how our night had been going and told us what great things we were doing. Ping Pong men (trying to get you to come see the strip club) smiled as we walked by and saved us the aggressive assault because they already knew our answer. But most importantly,  the women were so happy to see us. We have this idea and prayer that when...

It RAINED!

It rained both physically and in the Holy Spirit. Seriously I cannot believe how AMAZING last night was down on Bangla Road. I just have to voice God’s power and His goodness. As I declared that the Holy Spirit would rain down on Bangla Road as it did the night of that big storm, I also prayed for physical rain to pour down, clearing the streets. A lot of us have been praying for this, and last night it happened! Let me say that again. GOD ANSWERED US BIG TIME! I don’t even remember how it all came to be. It was the Spirit of the Lord working in us and through us. We came out of...
