Does Anybody Hear Her?

On my very last time prayer walking our Coastal Road, I decided to use my iPod to keep me focused and so that I could really lift up all that was happening around me. My iPod was on shuffle but God kept giving me songs that applied directly to the situation. Song after song of convicting messages. Then it reached this song. I had heard it a million times before. And realized the strong message behind it but it felt like these girls were crying out through the song. Every girl deserves their own love story, I hope that one day these bar girls can have it some day. She is running A hundred...

Freedom Rains

On Wednesday night, we prayed for big things. We prayed for miracles. We prayed for freedom. We asked for God to rain in this place. To rain freedom in this place. To rain hope.  Jesus brought the rain. And in the biggest storm I have seen, He rained our entire night of bar ministry. As we sat at Beer Bar, thrilled that we were able to give a SHE flier to one of the most controlled bars on our street, we felt the first drop of rain. Silence fell among as and was followed by uncontrollable...

Second Chances

The more time I'm here, the more I am amazed at the God we serve. Monday night was once again one of our prayer nights. My partner and I walk the streets and the beach while lifting up prayers for the ones doing bar ministry….. that they would have boldness, love, and compassion for the men and women they come across. I found myself sitting in the sand worshipping and praying very intently when all of a sudden a Western looking man and Thai girl sat down maybe six steps away from me. This has become a common sight that I have almost accepted as the norm down here, but I found...

The Moments In Between “Ministry”

So often I'm learning that I separate in my mind life and ministry. I wish honestly that I was the only one that struggles with this but I'm guessing that many of you are in this boat with me. Its almost as if in order to encourage someone, tell them about Jesus or pray for them we have to have a big sign flashing "ministry moment". Then after its over we almost pat ourselves on the back and say well done now you can get back to normal life and categorize it as a moment of doing ministry. In reality, everything we do should be ministry. People are around us everyday...

Singing in Bars

Thursday night will be one that I will never forget. Everything started out like it normally does when we go out for bar ministry…we get ready, we pile into the back of a truck, get driven to Patong, and then pile out onto the streets and make our game plan. But that night was different. We were so excited and pumped because some of our own were chosen to perform in a local bar. It was as if we had received concert tickets to a sold out band. Our pace walking down the street was faster, we wanted to just get there and hear the music. So here it was…us crowding into this tiny...

Hesitation from Fear

Hesitation is something that is brought about because of fear….and fear alone. Last night is was my turn to pray and intercede for the other groups out doing bar ministry. So my partner and I found our way on the beach where we decided to sit in the sand so we could focus, away from the loud music and the endless sea of people. As we were lifting up prayers of boldness and wisdom, a girl walked up behind us, who from first glance appeared to be a bar girl. She looked Thai, and was wearing a green tight tank top, and short shorts to say the least. Her demeanor was one of...
