Blindness & The Problem of Evil

When Alexa, Saraw, and I were walking up and down Bangla Road, prayer walking, we stopped into a little shop called “Bookazine” to grab some postcards.  As we were browsing their selection, Alexa spotted a book on human trafficking in Asia. We were shocked to say the least. On a street where prostitution is an epidemic, yet no one seems convicted, here was a bookstore that makes its money off of that industry, selling a book raising awareness for that very tragedy. But what was even more frightening was that as we continued to look, we found at least 10-15 more books...

Thailand: first thoughts

Hey folks! So here's me being real with ya'll, which is kind of hard for me, but here you go: what sticks out to me most about Thailand is all the little things that remind me of the middle east. As some of you know, I spent 11 of my growing up years in Dubai. Obviously, Thailand is really different. But there are these little things that keep poping up that are like, "BAM." Some of the plants, the Nissans and Sazukis, the weather 🙂 But at the same time, like I said, it is very different here in Phuket. Some of the SHE staff talked to us about what we will be doing, dos...

break every chain

" There is power in the name of Jesus, to break every chain, break every chain, break every chain." Those are some of the lyrics to a worship song we have pretty much lived  on all weekend. I didnt really know what to expect going into training camp. I was thinking we were going to stick with our team, and learn a bunch of information, kind of like school.. but boy, was I corrected! In just the two and a half days that we have been here, I have been stretched, and taken out of my comfort zone times 1,000! I came into this whole experience thinking, i was in a good place,...

I Believe You’re My HEALER!

I have wanted to write this blog for over a week now, but due to Internet, travel and busyness, I haven’t been able to. I want to tell people in person, but after some prayer, God also wants me to write about it. In Biblical times they may have only had word of mouth, but how much more can God use the internet! There are people that need to hear of God’s faithfulness. It is hard to put into words, but holy moley God is glorious!   Prayer is powerful! How many times have we heard this but not embraced it? God tells us that “Everyone who asks receive; he who seeks...

So Far From Normal.

I’ve been living and breathing and getting into shenanigans for going on nineteen years now.  Growing up I did normal kid things and played normal kid games.  But in many ways, I’ve always marched to the beat of my own drum.  While most girls wanted to be a ballerina or a princess, I wanted to be a fire fighter and a crime scene investigator.  I had a girl baby doll named Carrie Jacob. In high school I sported a pixie cut and dramatic eye make up. While it always seemed like I was so different from everyone else, I was tragically normal.  I wanted a...

In 60 days…my God is SO BIG.

I love that my God has no time constraints. Literally none. I was just sitting on my bed talking with my team leader, Katie, and she asked me what last year looked like for me. I told her that last year I didn’t have a relationship with Jesus. I told her that last year I was lying to my parents telling them I was going to church, when really I hadn’t stepped foot in a church in forever. I told her that last year I was finding my worth in boys. I told her that last year I was still angry with God for the things that had happened in my past. And then I told her about the...
