amidst the chaos

Hearing God’s voice.   This is something that I have learned to appreciate and expect here in Thailand, but it hasn’t always come easily.   A lot of the time, I think that our mental picture of hearing God’s voice looks a little something like this: Moses and the burning the bush.  Let’s all be honest, hearing God rarely comes in the form of a loud booming voice.    God won’t always throw Himself in front of you.  Often times, His voice comes in a still, small whisper.  This was a hard concept for me to grasp, especially since...

chatting with God

Allison,   You have definitely learned to test the Spirit and I don’t want you to stop.  Bring things to Me always, but also trust the discernment that I have gifted you with.  You live in a way that you are constantly testing the Spirit, continue to do so.   I don’t want you to try and find things to change about yourself.  I want you to love yourself just the way that you are.  I want you to love yourself the way that I love you.  I want you to see yourself the way that I see you: beautiful and flawless.   Right now is NOT a time...

Jesus only.

This Thursday while Gloriel, Allison and I were home interceding for our teammates out on Bangla, I randomly flipped open my bible. It opened to Mark 9, the transfiguration. Where some of the disciples saw Jesus transform into what is described as ‘dazzling white’ clothes with Moses and Elijah standing with Him. The disciples were speechless when they heard the voice of God saying, “This is my beloved son; listen to him.” And looking up they saw no one but Jesus only. (vs. 1-8) My eyes were drawn to the fact that I had at some point underlined the words Jesus only. I...

Me + Faithful God = Trust

Seasons come and go. I’ve had plenty of seasons in my life, I could probably name them, but that would take hours, and since I’ve been here for hours already I won’t. For the most part I can say they’ve all been good or at least ended good. Yeah there’ve been a few rough spots along the way, but God is always faithful, and has brought me through, even in the seasons I didn’t turn to Him, or truly acknowledge Him.In the past year God has proved Himself faithful. When I came home from Uganda and I wanted to stay, God was faithful, and met me where I was. The...

the secret to joy.

Give thanks.  At the beginning of this week, I was definitely not focused on giving thanks.  I was extremely frustrated, tired, and exhausted in every shape and form (emotionally, spiritually, and physically).  I was missing my family, my amazing friend Kristen, and my life in Livonia.  I was just at a breaking point.  Thankfully breaking points are perfect opportunities for growth.   Just when I thought that I couldn’t take another moment of life here, my Daddy stepped in and changed my perspective.    Picture this: The stage was perfectly set for...

proph·e·cy   [prof–uh-see]  noun, plural proph·e·cies. the foretelling or prediction of what is to come. Growing up, being a pastor’s kid, going to church every weekend and later attending Bible College, of course I knew what a prophet was & what they did. They were people in the bible who God spoke to & they conveyed that information to others. Usually, it was foretelling what would happen in the future. Through out these last few millenniums, many people would...
