The Beginning

So, we've been at training camp for a few days now and I feel so much different than when I first came. The first day we got here in Atlanta, we were handed an envelope with $25 and an address in it and were told to get there as quickly as possible. Ok, I don't know about you but I am horrible with directions, even with a GPS. Luckily, someone mentioned taking the Marta(subway) and we were able to ask workers for directions. We were led to this place called the Safehouse. It is a homeless shelter that gives out meals, a place to stay, and even church services. We were told to drop...

And We’re off!

The self examination continues. Its hard. Its messy. Its not the easy thing to do. But how can i tell others about the love of Jesus when i myself cannot feel him in my own life? We spent the evening encouraging our fellow teammates. God showed us what the person needed to hear and we just spoke and He did some amazing things. My team leader told me that I dont need to fight anymore and that God was holding me in his arms. That was just what i needed to hear. I can cry and its ok. I dont have to be strong at all times. I can be broken. Its weird. These past few days i have cried more then i...

Life for the next 4 months

Well, the trip has finally arrived and there are so many emotions going on inside of me! I have never experienced so much fear and anxiety than the moment I stepped away from my family and got on the plane to get to Atlanta. However, I was put very at ease once I met my group and joined with the other groups traveling to the nations. We were greeted at the airport, given an envelope with $25 and an address and told to get there. It was a lot of fun to use our resources and figure out how to get to the Safe House. Well, as about 40-50 college aged students hiked through downtown Atlanta with...

Set free

I am about to embark on a journey.  A journey that will hopefully and potentially change my life for the better.  (If i let it.)  I am going to spend the next four months of my life living in Thailand and Cambodia with six other people.  I am unsure of what we are going to do but know that it will partially deal with human trafficking.          In overview, i got on a plane flying to Atlanta, Georgia, where i met the wonderful ladies that will be my room mates, and travel companions for quite some time.  Everyone, including the...

So it begins!

So here it is people….my first blog about this Pilgrimage I'm on. So I was greatly surprised that at the arrival to the airport, we were given a clue with $25, and were told to get our team to this address. It reminded me of Amazing Race that show. So after walking what seemed like miles with all of our stuff, which consisted of a 55-pound pack, a 30-pound book bag, and probably a 10-pound messenger bag, I was so exhausted. The address lead us to a homeless shelter in downtown Atlanta…yet another surprise. We were told to drop our bags and head upstairs, where we...
