husband’s daycare.

Monday morning, we woke up to go to ministry training. The plan was to eat lunch, take a bus out to Patong and walk down Bangla Road once with an explanation of what was what and then to walk back in prayer asking God what to do about it. During the day, Bangla Road is full of shops and tourists including a large handful of beautiful Australians, elderly men, bar girls and shop owners, and not to mention families with young children. The first sign we see says “HUSBAND’S DAY CARE. WANT A NIGHT TO YOURSELF? DROP YOUR HUSBAND OFF HERE, AND WE’LL TAKE CARE OF HIM. ALL...

This One’s for the Boys

Monday- We prayer walked Bangla Road today. I had been expecting my heart to break for the women on the road, or maybe the children… but it was the men. The very first thing I saw when we arrived was a sign advertising “Husband Daycare.”  “Want a day of shopping?  Need some time away?  Just drop your husband off and we’ll entertain him- You just have to pay for his drinks.”  What isn’t on the sign are the poles decorating the bars or the women available to buy for the evening.  I almost threw up. All along the road were...

Never Have I Ever: Travel Edition

My friend Melissa just got back from the World Race and I so enjoyed reading her “Never Have I Ever” blogs that I figured I’d steal the idea.   We’ve only been here a couple days, but I’ve already seen so much that I’ll write one now and then maybe another later! Before this trip, never had I ever: – been so blessed by a conversation with a stranger on a plane – been judged in German- apparently they really hate the American girl’s chacos 🙂 -had foreign Mcdonald’s- fulfilling every stereotype and increasing the...

Amazed By Daddy!

“He reached down from heaven and rescued me; He drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemies, from those who hated me and were too strong from me.” Psalm 18:16-17 Dear Daddy,   You are changing each one of our lives already on this trip and we have only been in Phuket for three days. We have a unity that is already there, because we already have one thing in common which is the eagerness and wanting to know you more and our love for you. We only wanted to have a short team meeting, but all of us were able to open up and share what Satan has really been...

Turbulence

if you have ever experienced turbulence on an air plane, depending on your anxiousness and how bad the turbulence is, you know the never racking, stomach dropping, praying to Jesus for your life kind of feeling.  On our plane ride from Chicago to Frankfurt we has a bit of rough turbulence for about an hour, give or take a few minutes.  During the beginning it was just some light shaking but there were several times the plane shook a lot and had to drop down beneath the harsh wind currents in the air.  I would pray the lord would steady and the plane would stead for a while...

We’re all a little crazy

I can see why people think we are a little crazy for what we are doing. Right now I couldn’t even tell you what day and time it is. I can’t even narrow it down to AM or PM. I couldn’t add up how many hours I’ve slept, or even which country I slept them in. I’m not really sure if I’ve had three meals a day or if I’m drinking enough water. International travel is a whole new thing and it’s helped me piece together why people may think we are crazy. I’ve given up a bed, with known hours of sleep. I’ve given up my stepdads chicken and...
