Small Victories

On Sunday we had the chance to go to a Thai Church. I didn’t know if we would be able to go to a church while we are here because only .7% of Thailand is Christian. What are the chances there is a church in Phuket? Well there is, and it was awesome!! They started off by singing Desert Song and everyone in the room rose to their feet hands lifted to praise God. While we have been here, we have been told that to be Thai is to be Buddhist. It was so encouraging to be at a Church in Thailand where they are so proud to be...

Never Say Never

A few weeks ago(before this Thailand gig) I attempted to write out my "dream summary"-a.k.a: answer to that forsaken question of what I want to do with my life. I was brainstorming as I wrote-" Africa, writing, traveling, music…." The next sentence= the kicker, and I quote(from my few weeks ago self): " Probably in Africa, maybe in Latin America, definitely not in Asia." "Definitely not in Asia" was the one and only concrete definite…and lo and behold, here I am writing from Asian invasion Thailand. Never say never. Wasn't...

BAHT

BAHT   How can I describe to you the things that I’ve see on Bangla Road this past week? How can such a short stretch of pavement house over 200 bars and 1200 girls working there, being bought with BAHT (Thai currency)? The streets are packed with people as we arrive around 10pm. Russian girls are dancing on poles in glass cages high above and out of our grasp, Thai women dancing on tables with everything hanging out, “lady boys” (men dressed and stitched to look like women) clothed in elaborate feathers and wings. It’s so LOUD, lights flashing, men and women...

Seductive Sins and the Fight for Freedom

We have all faced demonic forces pressing on our heart strings- tempting us to sin, subtly manipulating beautiful truths into cruel lies.  I have been deceived by some crafty demons in my life.  I have followed them to the brink of death, toying with exit strategies and depriving myself of food- tiptoeing life’s border and daring it to let go of me… yet here I am.  I thought that my experience had more than equipped me for this ministry.  In my pride, I felt ready to confront my former demons and belligerently show them the ‘new me-’ someone...

Hell’s Enticing Gates

Bangla Road. Everyone here at S.H.E. refers to it as hell on earth and I wasnt sure what they meant until i too experienced a night out on the town. Before going out to minister to the women who work in the bars on bangla road we spend sometime in worship, had we not of done this the enemy would have walked all over us. Satan attacks us by making sin look enticing… He makes it look fun, pretty, fullfilling, and worth your time. By doing all of this he makes it so much easier to walk straight towards his...

Guess what I did for my birthday

So it was my birthday on Tuesday. I'm not particularly big on birthdays, but my team apparently is. They sang to me at least 3 times, one of those times being when they brought me a cake that consisted of Danish cookies with Nutella on them., and matches as candles. But that wasn't the only cake I got that day. We wend out to Bangla road that night to hang out with the girls. At one of the bars we stopped at there were four girsl. We talked for awhile, told them it was my birthday, played some connect four, etc. After awhile two fo the girls walked off, and the other ones brought...
