My Wings Of Freedom

The hardest thing i have ever had to do in my life was walk away from home in Kansas and get on a plane alone to head to Georgia for training camp. The most difficult part by far was saying goodbye to my family, hugging them as the tears roll from their eyes and then walking away with the Lord. The whole plane ride i just cried and questioned God why is this something You want? Why do you want me to do this when it is causing me and my familiy so much hurt? I even began to question if this is worth it to go to Thailand. THEN i got here to training camp and Yahweh came too. I worried that my...

Lion of Judah Thundering Deep

"The Lion of Judah's thundering deep, Roaring Down the walls of Fear in Me" In a room full of voices blending into divine harmonies, I felt like I was the only one striving to feel the presence of the Spirit that was descending upon everyone around me.  The Spirit seemed so palpable in their voices and raised hands, but I kept hitting a wall.  This past season, I have been working so hard.  As a full time grad student working two jobs, I have fallen into the mundane system of striving- striving to please bosses, professors, and my roommates…striving to be...

HELP! Unqualified!

Well here we are FINALLY. After months of preparing Thailand is literally one day away. Something God has been teaching me over the last month or so is that I am incapable. It's a thought that I shared with my team on facebook a week or so before we even met, and a truth worth repeating here. So here we go. The truth is: We are not adequate or capable to do anything on our own. It's in our weakness that Christ is most glorified. We aren't capable of "saving" these girls. But God is! His power, not ours. My dad recently said to me: "God doesn't call the...

Freestyle canoeing

Hey hey hey! So after a glorious (not really) 56ish hours of travel, I arrived in the Atlanta airport! Yay! Then I waited for 4 hours. Then all my team peeps got there as well, and we had some lovely circle time, sitting on the airport floor. Highlight of day one: Austen brought us coloring books for on the flights over to Thailand. Day two: it is freezing. So I came from Wisconsin, ok. Georgia, should be warm, right? WRONG. So cold. But anyway, we are at a camp somewhere in the mountains/ hills of georgia, at training camp! Highlight of day two: superfun morning time. Yes, we did a...

break every chain

" There is power in the name of Jesus, to break every chain, break every chain, break every chain." Those are some of the lyrics to a worship song we have pretty much lived  on all weekend. I didnt really know what to expect going into training camp. I was thinking we were going to stick with our team, and learn a bunch of information, kind of like school.. but boy, was I corrected! In just the two and a half days that we have been here, I have been stretched, and taken out of my comfort zone times 1,000! I came into this whole experience thinking, i was in a good place,...
