My life is in your hands

Hello friends and family! 24 hours of traveling later (you guys would be proud, I sat in the middle seat, between two strangers on the way to tokyo, for 15 hours and only got up 4 times to pee… impressive? I know) we made it to Bangkok and 12 more hours to go and we'll be Phuket, our final destination. We're taking a 12 hour bus ride through the night tonight, so we'll arrive in Phuket early tomorrow morning. A lot has gone on the past week and a half: sleeping on tarps, worshipping, dancing, laughing, crying, traveling, jet lag, eating amazing thai food… but I feel...

And so It Begins!

We finally arrived into Thailand! After four days of training and almost 2 days of traveling, we are finally here, but there is still a ways to go. Currently we’re in Bangkok and are expected to leave to Phuket today on a 12hr bus ride through Thailand! It may be a long, but as some of you know, I love traveling so I don’t mind at all. I think it’s a bonus to be able to go through the country and see it’s scenic (and maybe not so scenic) views. On the plane on our way to Thailand It has been a week since I have left home, but it seems so much longer. Let...

Expect the Unexpected

My band teacher used to say "blessed are the flexible, for they will not be bent out of shape." That is a theme that we will constantly be challenged with overseas. Life happens, expectations go unfulfilled, and we have to adjust. My Thailand team consists of 22 college women and two leaders. The first night we...

where the spirit of the lord is, there is freedom

Hello from Bangkok! We are here safely and I am personally enjoying letting my feet and ankles "unswell" from the long flights. It blows my mind that I have been with this group of girls for a day short of a week already. When we met on the 3rd, we sure were put to the challenge for community within our team. We slept outside, unexpectedly, on the first night. For me, I was a little hesitant at first about training camp when I arrived. I guess my poor attitude could have come from feeling a little sick that day but I also learned the next day that I had expectations about training...

What theee…

I can't help put laugh at the fact that there have been points in my life (ahem, the last twenty years) that I've thought I had it all figured out. For example, I have proclaimed many a time that never would I ever blog- whoops.  This first week at Real Life training Camp was just another reminder that I have so much to learn.             For instance, I thought I loved camping but when we arrived the first night and they told us to grab three things and we wouldn't be back...

Train me in Your ways

Sawasdeekha friends and family!! Welcome to my first-ever blog post. The adventure has begun! We are alive and well in Bangkok. I am beyond excited to be in  this diverse city!! Training camp was great! It was literally Summer camp, but for college students who love Jesus. Camp was complete with log cabins, wilderness and bunk beds. AIM has challenged and enabled us to go into our distinctive mission fields with confidence.             I love the openess on our team. We have had some awesome...
