It Starts With Goodbye

Well, tomorrow we are leaving for our mid-point debrief… It’s a bittersweet feeling. I am so very sad to leave this ministry but I am so incredibly thankful for all that God has done here and all that He will continue to do after we leave.           In Thailand, they have these paper balloons that you can light a fire under (sort of like a mini hot air balloon) and send it off into the night sky for “good luck”. Thursday, being our  last night out at the bars, we decided to write on the balloon...

Hope in Saying Good Bye

We showed up on Bangla with bracelets and flowers on Thursday night. It was the night that we were supposed to say good bye and I was dreading every bit of it. We put together those bracelets that you make in Sunday school with the colored beads, telling about salvation, for all the girls we had connected with. From bar to bar we gave out white flowers and bracelets. It was as if they couldn't believe someone had made something specifically for them. They didn't ask what the beads meant, but we all knew what they stood for. It was the answer to their freedom. We can only pray and...

Attention Parents and Supporters!

Dear Parents and Supporters, You may have heard that there recently was an earthquake near Japan and that it triggered a tsunami. Initially there was a warning issued for South East Asia, but now no threat exists. I just spoke with leader Natalie Smith to confirm that the team is safe and doing well. If anything changes, we will notify parents immediately. If you have any concerns, please leave a comment and we will respond as soon as possible. Please keep praying for our girls! Tamica Sloan Real Life staff

The Harvest was Ready

We have been praying for the harvest……that it would be ready, and it was picked and ready on Friday night. You go out to Bangla Road, praying and wanting God to show you big things……and sometimes you get in the truck after pouring out your heart all night, and you see no real harvest. At first it can be hard because you have so much passion for these women, and you pour out so much love and at the end of the day, the numbers are still the same. At first this is hard to grasp, but then you see how God is in all the small things….and really it's just about...

Does Anybody Hear Her?

On my very last time prayer walking our Coastal Road, I decided to use my iPod to keep me focused and so that I could really lift up all that was happening around me. My iPod was on shuffle but God kept giving me songs that applied directly to the situation. Song after song of convicting messages. Then it reached this song. I had heard it a million times before. And realized the strong message behind it but it felt like these girls were crying out through the song. Every girl deserves their own love story, I hope that one day these bar girls can have it some day. She is running A hundred...

Freedom Rains

On Wednesday night, we prayed for big things. We prayed for miracles. We prayed for freedom. We asked for God to rain in this place. To rain freedom in this place. To rain hope.  Jesus brought the rain. And in the biggest storm I have seen, He rained our entire night of bar ministry. As we sat at Beer Bar, thrilled that we were able to give a SHE flier to one of the most controlled bars on our street, we felt the first drop of rain. Silence fell among as and was followed by uncontrollable...
