Honey Bird

I was so excited to get to the market so i could buy some Honey. For some reason putting honey on my cereal and peanut butter sandwich is so comforting! After a few hours of being home it was completely infested with ants… Thanks to the ants my day was slightly ruined. However that is not the end to this story! One of the girls i am here with was struggling with some issues at 1:30 A.M. and two of us went up to comfort her and pray. As we prayed we said, "Lord please take the evil out of this house! Let only your love fill this place," and after we prayed that a...

Butterflies and Spit

When you’re kneeling with your face to the asphalt, staring at someone’s spit under your nose, and crying out to God- it’s hard not to question your sanity.  Mrriah and I created quite the scene on our prayer walk yesterday.  After wandering down each Soi adjacent to Bangla Road speaking our prayers into space, we both felt discouraged by the demonic idols that seemed to have procreated over night.  As we sat wordless and empty inside a bar at the end of Bangla, Mrriah got on her knees, and I followed.  We prayed that God would forgive our unbelief and...

Satan Get Behind Me

Everyday we are put through strenuous measures until we are completely exhausted. Whether it be working on the farm which we do everyother day or going out on Bangla Road. It's kind of crazy because the whole trip I have had a really sour attitude about going to the farm. we spend the entire time raking brush and vines and burning it then we rake some more and burn some more. I constantly quetion why they wouldnt just burn the whole field so we wouldnt have to rake it every stinken day!  When I found out that tuesday was my lucky day to go work on the land i was less than...

Prayer. And prayer. And some more prayer.

Ok, I have a prayer request: please pray that I won’t kill anyone. I underwent the Mark driving test/learning to drive in Phuket clinc today, and it looks like I will be driving here for the next three months. It’s just a bit crazy. They drive on the left here, so I have to get used to that, and there are roughly a million mopeds zipping in and around the cars. Then there are the huge, steep, curvy hills that I get to go up in a manual transmission with 7 or more passengers. Yay. So please pray that I would learn quickly and be safe.   One thing that has really been...

Glass Castles and Barbie Dolls

Once upon a time in my little world of white castles and Barbie dolls, I imagined the world as a safe place.  Seashells and peculiar rocks inspired a sense of wonder, and beauty was a given as opposed to an insecurity.  If the Lord has sealed my heart with His promise: “How beautiful you are, my darling, there is no flaw in you”-Song of Songs 4:7, then why do I feel as if I have so many inadequacies? The world of a little girl slowly becomes manipulated with greater exposure to the media and its impractical assertions of beauty’s definition. Last night, as we sat...

Finger Nail Polish and Strawberry Fanta

Mrriah Sunshine- She truly lives up to her middle name and so much more.  At night, Bangla Road becomes a Crayola Box stuffed with thousands of broken crayon bits disguised as tourists.  Mrriah stands out- a full crayon- sunshine yellow.  Just ask Guv, the bar girl who immediately pulled Mrriah aside to tell her that she saw a light in Mrriah that she had never seen before on Bangla.   Today, Mrriah and I were given the opportunity to prayer walk together.  Both of us have been struggling to find joy amidst the darkness of Bangla Road.  After witnessing my...
