I’m flying to Phuket, Thailand instead of Atlanta

I’m flying to Phuket, Thailand instead of Atlanta.    3 weeks ago, God clearly told me and gave me a lot of confirmation that I needed to stay behind after my team left to go back to America in November. He said I needed go to Phuket, Thailand for the month of December.    So why Phuket, God? I have definitely heard of it… Phuket is an island in the south of Thailand known for three things: beautiful beaches, tourists, and trafficked girls. It is the most popular tourist destination in Thailand. The bars in Phuket are much darker and busier than the bars...

Crazy, Awesome Love

LOVE. I have been learning these past four weeks on what it looks like to love through the Lord's eyes. I am not perfect at it by any means but I am so blessed that he wants to use me and my teammates to love the people of Chiang Mai. All I am called to do is love the people that he places in front of me, even if it means that old man who is standing in front of me purchasing a innocent eighteen year old girl for the night. It blows my mind that God loves everyone the same, even those who choose evil over him. He is so amazing that he is able to separate us from our sins and just love...

Declarations of a Copy Cat

Declarations: Truth that is verbalized. You may not believe what you are declaring.  But truth is truth. Unbelief doesn’t change truth. If you don’t believe what you are declaring, keep speaking. You’re heart will eventually follow your words. Because words are game changers.  This week I went to a northern village. I was surrounded by rice fields and mountains. Ice cold bucket showers. Squatty potties. Bugs. Mystery food. No fans. No WIFI. No plans.   I loved simple, village life. The best day for me was Thursday.  I was tired from our crazy day on Wednesday. I...

You Da Boss

I was sitting in worship one night before going out into bar ministry and this is what HE told me…. Take both of your hands and put them up, in front of your face. When you look at them, you will notice that everything behind them is blurry. I was sitting there doing this and Jesus told me to only worry about the things that he placed right in front of me. Everything else was blurry to me for a reason but it is okay because he can see the big picture. I am not in control! The world is not in control! GOD IS IN CONTROL. I am done living my life thinking I am the driver. I have been learning...

Reforestation

Over the last month our team has had the opportunity to participate in monk chat.  We try to go once or twice a week, sometimes talking to the same monks, and sometimes talking to new ones. Either way, we build friendships with them, talking about mutual interests, and they have the chance to practice speaking English.  Many of the monks at this Wat (temple) are between 19 and 25, and studying English at the Buddhist University there.  Through conversations with them, I’ve learned more about Buddhism and have had a few chances to talk about the bible and Christianity.  It’s...

Stop, Hammer Time…U Can’t Touch This.

“Open my senses Jesus.” I prayed that prayer all summer. “Show me your heart. I want to see, hear, smell, and taste you.”  I forgot one sense though. Touch. Jesus has opened up the sense of touch to me and that was something I did not expect. He allows me to feel what people or objects are carrying (for example spirit of happiness, sadness, insecurity, etc). This doesn’t always happen, but it sometimes does. I can’t make this stuff up. It usually just hits me without me expecting it to come.   Touch….  The first time I squeezed...
