Eunuchs, Big Buddha, & Pam

1. Eunuchs. About a month ago, after a night of prayer for the other half of our team, my friend Sharon was feeling really heartbroken about our friend Palm who is a ladyboy. He's only 18 years old and yet he has already had a sex change. It was in that same moment that I had one of those "That's So Raven" moments and realized: Ladyboys are eunuchs! The Bible talks about eunuchs. There's the time in Acts 8 when Philip meets this Ethiopian eunuch on the road to Gaza. He finds him reading Isaiah 53–one of the most direct examples of the Old Testament pointing to...

The Words I Haven’t Said

Sometimes the most memorable moments in life are the most uncomfortable. Even the traditional milestones such as giving birth to a child or proposing to a significant other can be VERY frightening. The main fact of the matter is the choice you made in the process. Even through all your fears and doubt tried to creep in, you knew how wonderful the outcome could be and ran for it. Those moments that made you tremble and really fight for what you wanted are the times you can truly look back at and remember. Now imagine those times in your head and take a second to think about what...

Just some thoughts and a story

It's March tomorrow. Wow. We've been here about 40 days. Last night I kind of realized how tired we are going to be by the end of this trip. Yes, before coming, I knew it would be stretching and hard and everything, and that's good, it should be. Being here should not be easy or comfortable. But last night, driving back from Bangla, I started to realize what that will look and feel like. So please pray for me and my team, that we would be daily choosing to give God all that we have, and that we be leaning on his strength.  Funny story: My team (Amber, Saraw, and Sabrina)...

Praying in Thai

3 stories for ya’ll.   1. Since we are currently the only team at SHE, we are responsible for morning devotions with the Thai women that work at the center. We were told to try and make it simple enough for an elementary Sunday school. So the first time I was asked to lead I came up with a simple object lesson on Matthew 5:14-16 on being the light of the world. I used my headlamp and a cereal bowl, flipped the fluorescents off, and shared the Gospel.   Some of them seemed to understand, but there was a language barrier and I was discouraged (this is something that has been...

Your Never Giving Up On Me

There have been plenty times in my life, and especially now when I question Gods love for me. Walking through Bangla you have to honestly question yourself, “Okay, Do I really believe this never ending, overflowing love that you say you have Jesus?” Sometimes I try imagining Gods love and I compare him to love i've received in my past. This only gets me in trouble because I think I innocently forget that God's love will be far better than any boyfriend, any father, or friend's love that I have ever experienced. He is constantly reminding and showing me that no...

Did we just eat a rat?

There are times when I leave Bangla road asking myself, “What did I even accomplish tonight?” Trying our best to make relationships with these woman can be a hard task and emotionally draining. Thankfully, when you seek God you find him, and from this I have found God to be more abundant than I could ever imagine. Going onto Bangla road I expected to encourage and bless these woman who are being sexually abused and neglected and I have been the one leaving encouraged and blessed. How does this happen? God has given me friendships with these girls who are so delighted in just...
