Princess Probs

Anyone who knows me knows that I love Disney movies, specifically any Disney movie that involves a princess. As of late God has been speaking to me through the Disney movie Aladdin.             Everyone knows the part where Aladdin is standing on his magic carpet hovering above Jasmine’s balcony and asks her the pivotal question, “Do you trust me?” She answers yes and he whisks her away on a magic carpet ride into a whole new world. It’s a...

I’ll Miss…

Our team spent this past week living in Mae Ai Village in Northern Thailand and it was an experience I will carry with me forever. I’ll miss the delicious, small bananas. I’ll miss the talkative rooster that insisted we wake up around 5 or 6AM. I’ll miss the little red ants that swarmed where I slept. I’ll miss squatty potties and bucket showers. I’ll miss the three dogs that visited our host home, Bob, Salt, and Pepper. I’ll miss the freedom of not looking into a mirror for a week. I’ll miss my Mae Jon’s startling,...

Do You Want to Get Well?

Isn’t it funny how the Lord has timing that is perfect even when we don’t understand it?   Months before coming to Thailand, I felt….well, a block between me and God.   Except this time was not like other times in my life. Most of the time when I have felt something keeping me from fully connecting with the Lord, I know what it is. I recognize what is going on and then I either choose to take it to the Lord or just brush it off my shoulder as if it doesn’t really matter (which by the way is not healthy).   But this time, I had no idea what it was...

I have a thing for older men.

Yes it’s true. I have a thing for older men. Not in a creepy way, but just in a, “they’ve always had a very special place in my heart” kind of way. Maybe it’s because I have been blessed with wonderful grandpas. Maybe it’s because whenever I talk to older men, they always pull out their wallets and show me pictures of their beautiful wives and I can tell how very much in love they are after years of marriage. I don’t know exactly it is, but it has hit me hard here with the older men in the bars. At first my love for these men caught me off guard...

Free people free others (Feedback Really Works)

God is full of surprises. When I signed up for this trip, I thought that as soon as I went to the bars in the red light district my team and I would see women freed from their captivity. Its been over a week since my team and I have arrived in Thailand and to be quite honest its felt like we haven't been doing too much. I am thankful that God has a much bigger vision then I do. I came to Thailand to see God set the captives free and it turns out that He also wants to free me of things that have held me in captivity. For awhile, I didnt feel like people really understood how I felt...

You make me come alive!

From the mundane of the everyday to the once-in-a-lifetime experiences, the past 48 hours has brought my heart to life! Here’s why: I worshipped and got to hang out with World Racers, YWAMers, High School youth groups, a multinational missions organization, and other Jesus-loving world changers. I drank Thai tea. I went to a slum and played soccer (fairly well, actually). Though not a word of English was spoken, more love and joy was shared than nearly any conversation I’ve ever had! I had time to begin my CS Lewis books. I watched children have the most fun I’ve...
