Dancing in the Rain

Today I danced in the rain and my audience was the King of Heaven. I was sitting at the table eating my always reliable rice that they feed us every day, when it started to pour outside. It was a peaceful rain and I was excited because I felt like it would cool off the 90 plus temperatures we are in everyday. I was trying to enjoy my rice when Shelley, one of my team members, jumped up and said, "Lets go out in the rain!" Now here I was trying to enjoy my meal and she wanted to get drenched by the rain. At first my reaction was, "Well….let me finish eating first"…….as...

The Reign

February 9th In and out. Cresting Crashing. Washing.   Giving. Destroying. The ocean brings. Pouring. Soaking. Bringing. Destroying. The rain causes. Hope. Peace. Liberty. Joy. Completely and wholly new.   I have never had ocean all around me before. I mean seriously, I live in Northern Alberta. The concept of the tide and vastness of the ocean never really hit me. I knew that the tide would go in and out and that the moon was responsible for that but it never really hit me that God, someone so big and powerful was so faithful in such a small (slash big) way. I knew the ocean was...

A night in the bars..

Well, Monday we had our first "night out." The feelings and emotions that we all experienced before going out were comparable to the night before the first day of school. We went through conversations in our heads, sorted through expectations, debated on what to wear, and were altogether giddy little five year olds. I am sure we were amusing to watch and listen to, but we were all so excited to finally get working on the reason God brought us to this place. While walking the streets of Patong, there was a dark heaviness that sat upon your shoulders are filled your lungs until the...

Freedom

Oh what to write…….so much has happened since my last blog, and God has really showed up since the last time I wrote…..so I find myself asking….oh what to write? Well there is a lesson I learned from training camp that seems to be creeping more and more into my life….to a point where now it seems to be intertwined with my very core. So there is this thing called freedom that we so often forget as Christians that I feel if we remembered our lives would ultimately be different.  What we forget as Christians is that Christ died for our freedom, but yet we live...

The Fear of the Unknown

Well, we've been in Phuket for an entire week but it feels like so much longer than that. These amazing women of God have become my family and I wouldn't choose to be on this journey with any one else.       It has been a week of learning, change, and adjusting. Being here, though, I discovered I have been missing one crucial element in my walk with God; the ability to talk comfortably with Him. For so long I have been consumed with fear of saying the "wrong thing" or praying the "wrong prayer". What I've...
