raw surrender

As I was praying and asking the Lord what to write about, He reminded me of a song that He had used to speak VERY clearly to me earlier this week.  The song is: Only To Be Yours by Meredith Andrews.     Okay, change of pace…  When I had started this blog a few minutes ago, I intended to share the song lyrics with you and then explain what I was learning through it, but God had different plans.  I started writing and He said, “Allison, I want you to REALLY meditate on that song before you write anything.”    So I turned the music...

To Give, You First Must Receive

To set the captives free, I must first be freed.  I thought for the longest time I was being a good Christian by forgiving those who had wronged me.  Matthew 6:14-15      "14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive other their sins, your father will not forgive your sins"  I took to heart Jesus' words. I called on strength from God to forgive those who had created ugly scars on my heart. He answered and without a doubt I forgave those...

God IS GOOD!

God IS good!! right?! In everything, everytime, everywhere, no matter the situation. Thats something God has been teaching me. Reminding me via His word, my team, and our contact. (Amanada!) I am thankful though, it is good for me 🙂 The reason I say all that is I got on here this afternoon to post a blog of pictures because I wasn't sure what to write. Turns out as I started words just came and I poured out my heart and what God has been doing here and in me. I got to my last picture (because it was still alot of pictures) something went wrong and my computer spazzed out. I...

interceding…say what?!

A few years ago I started to hear the word ‘interceding’ a lot, but I wasn’t quite sure what it was.  After a little while I decided that this intercession stuff was powerful and I wanted in, so I started asking about it.    What I found is this: intercession is when you pray for someone else and ask Holy Spirit to come in on their behalf.  Thankfully I asked what it was because intercession really is powerful and it is essential for fruitful ministry. Without intercession, our ministry here in Thailand would not be near as effective as it...

Home-Rule

Home is where the heart is, my heart is with these girls! “I need to journal! Guys I seriously, need to blog.” I’ve been saying this to my team for a few days now. I’m not sure why I’ve been struggling to post a few words about what’s going on with my life here. It certainly isn’t because I’m too busy but maybe it’s because I haven’t processed all the change that’s occurred over the past two weeks. Africa. Minnesota. Georgia. Thailand. Different showers, different beds, different food. In the midst of that, it’s...

A City Not Forsaken

On Wednesday, we talked about prayer, intercession and prayer walking. We read tons of verses on the topic and then we were taken to a Buddhist temple where we were going to practice prayer walking. I had my bible, my iPod and my partner, Autumn. Quick sidenote, we are like celebrities here. Autumn and I are both pretty tall, so walking around the temple at least 4 people asked for pictures with us.Their heads were at our ribcages!  Anyway, we stepped inside the temple and immediately, my chest felt heavy. Thai people are typicall pretty peaceful. But God was showing me that it was...
