Kids Are Just Sometimes Easier

Last night we got the privilege of helping out with the children’s ministry out back. The joy and bright smiles these kids have pour onto my life and I can’t help but smile. Kids just have such a way of connecting with you. You don’t have to know their language or even know them but they except you anyway. No reservations. I love kids!     These last few days have just been a time of team bonding and getting to know each other. Its crazy that we’ve only been together for a week and a half. A trip like this has such a way of forcing people to get to...

And let us run with patient endurance the race that is before us. Hebrews 12:1

Last night we were able to do our first "unofficial" ministry. Every other night, we will be able to go to the back alley behind our building and play with the neighborhood kids. They range from toddlers to 14 year olds and have more joy than anyone I have ever witnessed. The moment we stepped out there, they just ran to you with open arms and big grins. Toto, We’re Not in America Anymore

Today, as we were walking around Phuket for the first time, one recurring thought came to mind. We are NOT in America anymore. There are so many different smells here, most of them unpleasant. We walked through a market and there was SO much fish and the smell hit you like a ton of bricks. It’s dirty, it’s hot, the food is weird, and I can’t understand a word anyone says or read a word that any of the signs say (unless someone has so kindly translated it to English underneath). So, I kept thinking “Why did God bring me here, why did He give me this...

Flight KE 036

January 19th or 20th (This whole time change thing is messing me up…)     There's no turning back. I am on the plane. Ready to go on a journey that will change my life forever. I am so excited!! (I use two exclamation points because I really am!!) I am trying to imagine what I will feel like four months from now. What will have changed?  I just don't know. This voyage is nothing like anything I have ever done.     Completely new. Completely different. Completely nerve wracking. But so completely exhilarating. It's weird because I have...

They made it!

Hello friends, family, and supporters of team Southeast Asia!  I just wanted to let you know that the team arrived in Thailand and all is well.  I just received a call from the team leaders and they are safe and sound in Phuket.  All flights were smooth, all luggage arrived with them, and with it being 1am there, they’re looking forward to a great night’s rest.   During the next few days they’ll be settling in, doing some orientation, and getting into ministry in Phuket.  I know you are all looking forward to hearing all about what...
