amidst the chaos

Hearing God’s voice.   This is something that I have learned to appreciate and expect here in Thailand, but it hasn’t always come easily.   A lot of the time, I think that our mental picture of hearing God’s voice looks a little something like this: Moses and the burning the bush.  Let’s all be honest, hearing God rarely comes in the form of a loud booming voice.    God won’t always throw Himself in front of you.  Often times, His voice comes in a still, small whisper.  This was a hard concept for me to grasp, especially since...

Jesus Raindrops

I’ve been struggling through writer’s block, and intended to post this last week, but I couldn’t write anything… so here’s last week's blog: The rainy season is coming to a close, which means the amount of rainstorms are fewer and fewer. When it does rain, it is such a relief from the Thailand heat. Last Sunday evening was one of those times. I spend a lot of my down time on the weekends processing the closing week, and readying myself for the next. I ended last week feeling frustrated and discouraged, so my weekend was processing through those...

Before and After…

Here I am sitting in my top bunk with a fan on me. Quite content, it's quiet (which is turning into a rarity) and for some strange reason I am very much enjoying the peace and quiet.  (plus I had an iced coffee earlier which brightened my day :D)   I know it's been three weeks since I've written on here but I haven't felt led to share anything particular. I could share an average day. I could give some "You know you're in Thailand when…" facts. I could tell some interesting culture stories. I could share my walk with God. Or I could...

Apart from being a Mumford & Sons song, this was my day at The Land. There are currently 2 teams of World Racers (12 girls) here right now so they go to The Land with us as well. One of the girls, Nadia, and I were given the job of pulling tangle weed out of the hedge. Working on the hedge has been my job several times; our host even calls me the ‘hedge expert.’ But I haven’t yet dealt with the tangle weed…or what we have affectionately dubbed “Satan’s weed.” As we began pulling out the tangle weed, we saw how much it choked the beautiful...

chatting with God

Allison,   You have definitely learned to test the Spirit and I don’t want you to stop.  Bring things to Me always, but also trust the discernment that I have gifted you with.  You live in a way that you are constantly testing the Spirit, continue to do so.   I don’t want you to try and find things to change about yourself.  I want you to love yourself just the way that you are.  I want you to love yourself the way that I love you.  I want you to see yourself the way that I see you: beautiful and flawless.   Right now is NOT a time...
