The Words I Haven’t Said

Sometimes the most memorable moments in life are the most uncomfortable. Even the traditional milestones such as giving birth to a child or proposing to a significant other can be VERY frightening. The main fact of the matter is the choice you made in the process. Even through all your fears and doubt tried to creep in, you knew how wonderful the outcome could be and ran for it. Those moments that made you tremble and really fight for what you wanted are the times you can truly look back at and remember. Now imagine those times in your head and take a second to think about what...

Tonight Our Life Begins

For so long, my whole life actually, I have dreamt of being married. Starting as a young girl just wanting to marry my daddy, then getting into junior high and wanting to marry the first boy that told me i had pretty eyes, and recently just wanting a husband to share my life with. I have invisioned the ceromony in my mind. I searched through countless wedding magazines to find the perfect dress. I found the ring I want. I even keep a journal to my future husband and have written vows that include me washing his feet with my hair at our wedding! Over and over in my mind I have walked down...

Just some thoughts and a story

It's March tomorrow. Wow. We've been here about 40 days. Last night I kind of realized how tired we are going to be by the end of this trip. Yes, before coming, I knew it would be stretching and hard and everything, and that's good, it should be. Being here should not be easy or comfortable. Unraveling My Tattered Heart Strings

Growing up, my sister and I always eagerly anticipated summertime.  Ashley and I would line up large garbage bags, squeeze out a whole bottle of dawn dish soap, and leave the hose running for hours as we reveled on our homemade slip ‘n slide.  Alabama summers consisted of frequent visits to the snow cone vendor in the Delchamps Grocer parking lot, swimming in our neighbor’s pool, and dancing in the neighborhood sprinklers with blades of grass sticking to our ankles.  Ashley always came up with the cleverest ideas- from...

Praying in Thai

3 stories for ya’ll.   1. Since we are currently the only team at SHE, we are responsible for morning devotions with the Thai women that work at the center. We were told to try and make it simple enough for an elementary Sunday school. So the first time I was asked to lead I came up with a simple object lesson on Matthew 5:14-16 on being the light of the world. I used my headlamp and a cereal bowl, flipped the fluorescents off, and shared the Gospel.   Some of them seemed to understand, but there was a language barrier and I was discouraged (this is something that has been...

Valen-thai-ne’s Day

Another Valentine's Day on another continent, I'm OK with it- something about celebrating holiday's outside of the US of A= special. At home I probably wouldn't have cared too much that it was V-day. I wouldn't go out of my way to say "Happy Valentine's Day" to every passerby (asians+all) or be offended if people ignored it altogether… but being away gives me some sense of patriotism(cue I'm Proud to be an American song)+ I go to extreme lengths to celebrate the crap outta the day of love… ...
