My life is in your hands

Hello friends and family! 24 hours of traveling later (you guys would be proud, I sat in the middle seat, between two strangers on the way to tokyo, for 15 hours and only got up 4 times to pee… impressive? I know) we made it to Bangkok and 12 more hours to go and we'll be Phuket, our final destination. We're taking a 12 hour bus ride through the night tonight, so we'll arrive in Phuket early tomorrow morning. A lot has gone on the past week and a half: sleeping on tarps, worshipping, dancing, laughing, crying, traveling, jet lag, eating amazing thai food… but I feel...

obedience > comfort

Coming into training camp I didn’t feel like I had too many expectations. I thought it would be a little difficult and maybe I’d learn something about the country I will be doing life in for the next 2 months, I also assumed we would always be sleeping in a cabin all four nights… that expectation was not met. When we first got to our little camp ground out in the woods of Tennessee, we were called into a room and told to get 3 things from our luggage and we wouldn’t have further access to our bags until the next day. Naturally, I did not think we would be sleeping...

This Strip Isn’t a Tease

In case you were wondering: God is alive! The Holy Spirit is alive! Christ is alive! AND He is living in YOU.  Do you get that? Christ is inside of you. When God looks at you He sees his Son. He sees the one whom He looked down upon and declared, "You are my beloved Son, and I am fully pleased with you."   Absorb that for a minute.  This is what God has reminded me of at training camp. It is Christ living in me. My old, wretched, sinful self died with Christ and He has freed me. He has stripped off my old nature and clothed me with a brand new nature that is...

Awake My Soul

How fickle my heart and how woozy my eyes…     Packing for Thailand, I couldn’t have been more excited. I was ready. I had all the necessities and was prepared for my summer of adventure. The only thing I was not looking forward to was training camp. I thought it was going to be a waste of time when we could be out and that we were losing time to work at the SHE house (more of that later). I was pleased with what I learned we would be doing and the organization that we were partnering up with, so most of my fears had been put to ease. Arriving at camp, I was...

Train me in Your ways

Sawasdeekha friends and family!! Welcome to my first-ever blog post. The adventure has begun! We are alive and well in Bangkok. I am beyond excited to be in  this diverse city!! Training camp was great! It was literally Summer camp, but for college students who love Jesus. Camp was complete with log cabins, wilderness and bunk beds. AIM has challenged and enabled us to go into our distinctive mission fields with confidence.             I love the openess on our team. We have had some awesome...

where the spirit of the lord is, there is freedom

Hello from Bangkok! We are here safely and I am personally enjoying letting my feet and ankles "unswell" from the long flights. It blows my mind that I have been with this group of girls for a day short of a week already. When we met on the 3rd, we sure were put to the challenge for community within our team. We slept outside, unexpectedly, on the first night. For me, I was a little hesitant at first about training camp when I arrived. I guess my poor attitude could have come from feeling a little sick that day but I also learned the next day that I had expectations about training...
